Why are all my open scene tabs hidden?

Is this fixable or preventable? It’s a bit of a ui nightmare.

If I close a project with lots of scenes open and the tabs bar looks like this:
tabs bar with lots of tabs open
But then I reopen that same project, the tabs bar now looks like this:
tabs bar showing all open tabs as hidden

Despite numerous scenes being open, the tabs bar says otherwise. Now to access those scene I must click the little arrow buttons on the right side of the tabs bar multiple times until all tabs are showing, which unfortunately also adds blank new tabs. Very frustrating.

Even though I know a specific scene is already open, often times the most efficient way to switch to it is to search for it in the FileSystem tab and “re-open” it.

Do tabs reappear if you resize the window while no tabs are shown?

Either way, this looks like a bug, so please report it on GitHub with a minimal reproduction project attached.

Hey Calinou, thanks for the reply.

The tabs will only appear once I’ve resized the window to be wide enough to accommodate ALL tabs.
Without multiple monitors (giving me more screen space) this might not even be possible in many cases.

I tested 3 different projects. The Godot Editor window behaves the same - tabs all hidden upon opening the project.

I’ll do like you recommend, but do you think posting a video recording of the issue happing, rather than a minimal reproduction project, would be more effective?

thanks.
