How to make a mesh only cast shadows on itself

I’m making a view-model for my 3D game, and when I turn Mesh/Geometry/Cast-Shadows off to make it not cast shadows on the ground, it makes the model look worse because it stopped casting shadows on itself.

Also I want the view-model to be in the same world as everything else, so that shadows from the level can still cast on it
