Trying to allign an image material onto a 3D object

I am trying to load images of PDF pages onto objects, I have the pdf converted into images and have one applied to a material but when I place the material onto an object I am unsure of how to align it correctly with the object.

Here is an example of what I mean

It seems that no matter how the object is scaled before applying the material It always is aligned like this

I have figured out that it is the scale and offset settings in UV1 that solves the issue.
