Save and load in platformer game

I am currently making 2D platformer, where I want to save a level in the pause menu, and load the last saved level in the main menu. I can’t find any tutorials online that meet this need for some reason. I was expecting it to be easy like in unreal engine. What is the best code to accomplish this??
