I created a small simulation using Godot for my Emergent Computing class. The entire stuff is on GitHub, along with some explanation:

I think the most useful code there is the Genetic Programming operators I implemented, and the Syntax tree subclass. Everything is on GDScript, so it should be easy to modify as will.
