How do I add a simple dash effect to my game?

This site is currently in read-only mode during migration to a new platform.

I'm making an 2D endless runner in godot

So what is the easiest way I can create a basic dash effect and add a little bit of animation to it like a shadowy trail?
Help would be really appreciated.
